Want to know where your Team actually walked?  Go to the EsEye tracker site and enter your route code, or just the route letter, into the search box.  Scroll the time-range selection along the bottom to the extreme ends of the scroll-bar to show the whole route!

...for those who need to plan ahead, dates for Ten Tors 2013 are confirmed as May 11-12

Sun 13-May-2012 at 16:01:46 - Updated:
More than 250 Teams have now finished, with an hour to go to the end of Ten Tors 2012 - we estimate that most of those still out on the moor will walk in.  Go for it guys!!

Sun 13-May-2012 at 14:29:30 - Updated:
Over 150 Teams have now finished, with about the same number on their Tenth Tor:  15:00 is traditionally Ten Tors 'rush hour', so we should see a lot of the remainder walking in around then.  Just an amazing effort!!

Sun 13-May-2012 at 11:59:36 - Updated:
There are a few photos of early finishers on the link opposite, and currently another seventy uploading - this will take a while over the broadband link...
Lots of Teams flying past the webcam though!

Sun 13-May-2012 at 10:59:32 - Updated:
So far we've had more than twenty Teams finish, and the bulk of the remainder are at their eighth tor or better - absolutely stunning!  The weather here at Okehampton is cool, with an increasing amount of white cloud across a mostly blue sky - should help the Teams on their last stretches home...

Sun 13-May-2012 at 09:19:32 - Updated:
P1609, Torquay Boys Grammar School had the honour of leading the Teams home, at 08:56, and plenty more hot on their heels!

Sun 13-May-2012 at 08:59:34 - Updated:
The first Teams have yet to appear, and the webcam is now live!

Sun 13-May-2012 at 07:49:34 - Updated:
Your Teams are coming home! We're expecting the first in at perhaps 08:20 - we'll have photos - the webcam is next on the list of things to do!

Sat 12-May-2012 at 18:39:44 - Updated:
The updates will be left running 'unmanned' again overnight - not much will happen though after 20:00, unless a 45- or 55-mile Team decides to check in at a Tor (see below).  We'll be back, maybe not so bright but definitely early, for the Teams' homecoming tomorrow.  We could be seeing finishers from 08:00 onwards, depending on how far they push into the evening.  As you head for your beds, spare a thought for four hundred Teams easing out of their boots and into their sleeping bags for another short night, and another trek tomorrow...

Sat 12-May-2012 at 18:29:44 - Updated:
The Route cards are showing a few of the Teams as 'Camping' now, and a little explanation might be helpful:
  • no Team may pass a Tor checkpoint after 20:00
  • Teams on 35-mile Routes (A to L) must camp at one of their first eight checkpoints
  • If the staff at a checkpoint calculate that a 35-mile Team will not reach their next checkpoint before 20:00, the Team must camp where they are
(A quick look at your Team's Route map should show why they're camping where they are)
  • Teams on 45- and 55-mile Routes (M - V and W - Y) may pass a Tor checkpoint at any time before 20:00, then camp at any sensible point on their route
(Many 45- and 55-mile Teams will aim to clear one of their checkpoints a little before 20:00, then walk on into the night before camping just short of their next Tor, ready for an 06:00 start on Sunday morning)
  • The final part of the Camping rules are that no Team may pass its ninth Tor (?!) on Day One of the Event
Sat 12-May-2012 at 16:09:46 - Updated:
After a rapid trip to the middle of the moor we found a few Teams passing through Merrivale - photos are being uploaded.  If you check the 'Team Distribution across Dartmoor' on the 'Team Status' link, you'll find they're now mostly near or in the South moor, and going well!

Sat 12-May-2012 at 10:09:48 - Updated:
Photos of the start are now on the link opposite - enjoy!

Sat 12-May-2012 at 09:49:52 - Updated:
You may have noticed a few fallouts appearing on the updated listings - these appear as letters in the 'Fallouts & Status' column on the Route cards.  If these apply to your Team, follow this link for an explanation.  Essentially a letter (representing a Team member) in the Status column means that the individual is safe and is in the recovery system, on their way back to Okehampton and their Team Manager.

Sat 12-May-2012 at 09:09:52 - Updated:
Photos are currently uploading, they're taking a little while over the broadband link out of Camp, meanwhile your Teams are scorching their way down their routes - many of them are well on their way to their second Tor!

Sat 12-May-2012 at 07:29:48 - Updated:
They're off!  The Teams set off under a wall-to-wall blue sky very shortly after 07:00.  I cannot believe how fast two thousand four hundred souls can disappear into Dartmoor!  We'll post 'Photos' on the link opposite as soon as we can.  Updates are posted every ten minutes or so, using data directly from the Ten Tors MIS control system.  The Teams' routes are long - even on a 35-mile route there's an average of 5.6 Km between the ten checkpoints - so it will be a while before we see the first arrivals at Tor 1.  This is very likely to be the Teams whose first Tor checkpoint is Oke Tor, about 4km from the start, and is visited by four routes on the outward journey.  The Teams on the 45-mile Route T are likely to reach it just ahead of their 35-mile colleagues, at around 07:45.  You've got time for coffee, toast - maybe even a full English - before we post the first times at Tors!

More photos on the link opposite, of a much more pleasant day!  You need to avoid some stretches of the tented camp though, I failed - just wringing out the socks now...

Fri 11-May-2012 at 10:44:42 - Updated:
...you may have noticed by now:  there are no Teams registered to walk Route Z this year - all 55-mile Teams are allocated to W, X and Y...  I'll make enquiries...

10:00 on Ten Tors Friday - the routes assigned to Teams have just been released, and they're all posted here - enjoy! Our intention is to leave the updates running on automatic from now until shortly after 17:00 on Sunday, when the final Team has crossed the line, so you won't miss a thing...

First update of the day tomorrow will be as close to 10:00 as we can get it - the assignment of Teams to Routes!  Watch this space!!

Thu 10-May-2012 at 19:28:22 - Updated:
...a few photos from Okehampton on the link opposite, but don't get too excited - low-flying cloud, rain and a gusty wind was the order for most of the day, limiting the flying hours for the Sea Kings; some of the Tor kit had to go by road. Better promised for tomorrow!

Good afternoon all! We're live from Okehampton Camp, with something less than two days before Ten Tors 2012 begins. We're keeping a keen eye on the weather (currently it's horizontal - tricky to keep it out of the eyes) and trying hard to keep it out of the electronics. In the Teams' camp managers and assistants are doing much the same while they erect tents for four hundred Teams... We'll be taking a tour later, and should have a photo or two to share before the day is out, weather permitting - keep watching!

All Managers and Teams, please see the Secretary's Notices page for an important notice from the Director Ten Tors - more rain is expected over the next 36 hours - and please keep checking this site for any further updates

It's getting really close now!!  The forecast for the weekend is moving away from 'showers' towards 'partly cloudy', with temperatures just into double figures - no doubt Dartmoor will have its own variations here and there.  On Thursday the Ten Tors website slave (!) will be heading off to Okehampton Camp - if everything works we'll be posting a first-hand report on how it's all coming together sometime in the afternoon...

Fri 04-May-2012 at 13:03:18 - Updated:
To all Team Managers re Ten Tors weekend: no vehicles will be permitted on to the Okehampton Camp tented areas, due to the very soft ground.  Full details on the TT Sec's page...

So - you've done all the hard work!  Just two weeks to go, after months of training.  Your Teams are selected and ready.  There's just one more lap to go - you'll be applauded as you start your journey, and cheered home as you complete it.  Enjoy the weekend, it will be yours forever - this is your Ten Tors!

We'll see you on the moor!

Sat 28-Apr-2012 at 08:23:26 - Updated: SEVERE WEATHER WARNING - TEN TORS TRAINING RECOMMENDATION

Team Managers are advised that in view of the severe weather warning and the number of groups training on the moor this weekend, there is the possibility of overwhelming the emergency services if a range of groups are in difficulties during an overnight camp or during the day on Sunday.  This is in addition to the potential consequences for individuals.

It is recommended that Ten Tors training does NOT take place on the moor over Saturday night /Sunday 28th /29th April.

Whilst every effort will be made to pass on this message by text message to all teams, Team Managers are asked to pass this onto other teams they may meet.

Met Office forecast conditions for the weekend 27th-29th April

In view of the Met Office forecast conditions for the weekend 27th-29th April, managers should review and where necessary modify their plans, particularly if planning to camp on Saturday evening or planning to train on moorland on the Sunday.  This is with regard to water hazards and risks associated with  camping and moorland walking in demanding conditions.  In addition to heavy rain, 50mph gusts are forecast for Saturday night, potentially stronger on Dartmoor.  Managers should therefore also review, and where necessary increase, the level of direct and close supervision they apply.

WEATHER WARNING

The Met Office report  the possibility of upgrading the severe weather warning to Amber over the weekend with regard to late Saturday /Sunday. The depression may be particularly vigorous over the south-west on Sunday, with the potential for 30mm -50mm of rain falling on saturated ground.  Team Managers are advised to review the forecast early on Saturday.  If the weather warning is increased to AMBER, it is recommend that Ten Tors training does not take place on the moor over Saturday night /Sunday.

If you're training this weekend be aware of the amount of rain and the effect it's had on Dartmoor's rivers and also of the Met Office's weather warnings for the South West on Friday and Sunday.  Please review your intended routes.
