Go Team!

Ten Tors reaches its 50th Anniversary on the 8th of May.

These are a few words to speed the Class of 2010 on their journey!

These are the long hours and minutes before the start - when your mind plays tricks and asks 'are you really ready?' - 'do you really think you can do this?'   But you know that you can - you know your first Tor, you can take that first step, and after that the second - step after step, Tor after Tor, until you're there - one pace from the  finish - can you make this one  last step?

You've done it all in training - the story of Ten Tors 2010 is yours to make!  The best of luck to you and to you all - we'll see you on the Moor - and your family, friends, managers, trainers and thousands more will be willing you across that finish line on Sunday!

The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender.

Hi Dad ( Frank Herod ),Just want to say how proud we (Jane ,Andrew, Matthew , mum too) are of you taking part in the Ten Tors`  as it is 5o years since you took part in the first one as a young soldier at Denbury in 1960.
Now at the "youthful of age of 66 "you hope to achieve it again .
We are aware how much "walking" has always been one your lifelong pursuits , Your grandad introduced you as a child and you loved the adventure and freedom.
We are  now remembering the many times you tried to introduce us as children  taking us to the Lake District ,  Yorkshire Dales and of course Dartmoor on holiday and all we seemed to be interested in was the picnic mum had made !
Over the following years kept on still encouraging and hoping  we would inherit the gene , well  somhow it seems to have passed us by ?
Hopefully one your granchildren may follow on ?
We know along with others in  the "Team "how seriously you have trained ( enjoying every minute ) to be able to take part in the event.
Knowing mum, Margaret , Dave , Bob, Eric, Lesley will be there on Dartmoor to witness and support you next weekend , whilst we watch  with pride at home in Worthing on the webcam !
You are the best Dad , good luck to you and all The Old ex Denbury Boys`  you are an example to us all .
