CANCELLATION OF THE TEN TORS EXPEDITON 2001

Many of you will have been following the recent events in the West Country and will be aware that much of the County of Devon, and in particular the Dartmoor National Park, has been made an exclusion area by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries (MAFF).  The closure of this area to public access has already had an effect on Ten Tors team training and we have been advised that this situation will be in force throughout Ten Tors and is likely to extend for some considerable period into the future.

The Ten Tors Executive Committee have therefore made the decision that the 2001 Expedition will not take place.  This is regrettable, but it is clear that under the circumstances we must not compromise the strict exclusion area surrounding DNPA, nor do we wish to risk causing further distress to the farming community.  Those Teams requiring reimbursement of entry fees will be contacted shortly.

We look now to the future and it is our sincere hope that Ten Tors 2002 will go ahead, indeed future planning is already in hand.
