Sustainable Hydrology for the 21st Century

The BHS National Hydrology Symposium is held every two years. This exciting event brings together hydrologists, water engineers and those working in related fields and is organised by the British Hydrological Society. Academics and practitioners from the UK and around the world gather to inform each other of the latest developments in hydrology - both in science and in industry, to discuss topical issues in hydrology, present their latest research, and debate over new hypotheses and technologies. Importantly the event provides an excellent opportunity for meeting others working in the field of hydrology and for networking. The BHS National Hydrology Symposium is held every two years. This event is the 10th National BHS symposium and will be held in Exeter on September 15-17, 2008. The symposium will take the form of structured but informal technical meetings, with the opportunity to mix science and hydrological practice. Previous symposia have been enjoyable, friendly meetings with opportunities for developing long lasting relationships. This event promises to be no different and with the beautiful city and University of Exeter as a backdrop we expect a very well attended and vibrant conference.

Technical sessions are divided into 8 sub-themes aimed at addressing the over-arching topic of 'Sustainable Hydrology for the 21st Century'. The proposed sub-themes are:

Water Resources
Flood Risk Management
Climate change and Water
Hydrometeorology
Urban Water
Ungauged Catchments
Hydroecology
Water Quality

This is the 1st call for abstracts for papers for BHS2008. Abstracts are to be up to 150 words in length and must be sent to bhs_symposium_2008@ex.ac.uk by 31 January 2008 at the latest. Please indicate which sub-theme the abstract is for and provide the details on author(s) name, title, affiliation and qualifications and whether your abstract is to be considered for inclusion as paper for presentation or for the poster presentation only.

There will be sponsorship packages available (details coming soon) and the symposium provides an excellent opportunity for employers to meet and talk to students and others working in hydrology.
